Will the game be a one-to-one recreation, or will we see an interpretation of what the game would look like today?
Both. I don't know if the team got fed up with the two sorts of fans bothering them that the game does or does not need to be improved or if they planned it from the beginning, but we will actually see two game modes (big hooray to the team for that, btw. bestest idea ever)
• “Classic mode”, which will feature all the units how they were featured in TD, single infantry units, no special powers (other than those that belonged with the original TD), no changes in gameplay that are not forced onto the team by the engine. Likely no garrisonable or capturable buildings (other than the enemy ones)
• Also there will be a “advanced mode”, which will feature upgrades, special powers, inf squads (maybe), garrisons, tech buildings and much more. Also a lot of units will be changed for this mode (i.e. will the arty be replaced with a different version for this mode), so expect some nice suprises.
If there are enough mappers to get the SP maps working. SP maps are a lot more complicated compared to MP ones, so they take a lot more time. If you are a dedicated mapper, go and apply!
Will unit X be designed after RL unit Y? Why/Why not?
The team looks through all the ingame footage and the Manual along with whatever original WW media they can find, if it is still unclear what RL unit the ingame one should resemble or if there simply isn't any they go and choose the one that fits best into the motor pool. They also have Nyerguds who is a dedicated fan and walking C&C encyclopedia (as well as TD/AR1 modder) as well as a few very talented concept artists.
Will the units used by both sides look exactly the same?
No, they will show faction-based differences that will picture what direction the side will evolve to. I.E. the GDI and Nod Power Plants will have distinctive differences, as shown in on of the previous blogs.
